!!About This Place
Hi there! My name is Zoran Isailovski and this is my personal wiki. It serves two purposes:
# It'll be a place where I put biographical information about my self, a sort of an on-line résumé.
# As I like to experiment with<slider promising technologies,>
{{info box{
This document is a http://www.tiddlywiki.com/, a dynamic, self-modifying HTML file. It is one of the most interesting developments in personal note-taking technologies I've ever come across.
}}}
</slider>I'll take the chance to "to mix business with pleasure" and fathom this one as I go.
!!About Me
%/When I started off with writing this, I found myself in a dilemma: How do I describe myself? Common ways I can think of are MyBio, or MyProfile, or even At a Glance. But personally I think a lifetime is not made of dates and facts, but rather of //occurrences//. These<slider story-like happenings>
{{info box{
It is the many little stories that happen //in// your life that actually make up the story //of// your life.}}}
</slider>reveal much more about a person then a mere enumeration of life stations ever could. For those among you who'd like to get to know me in this way, I will be compiling MyStories.
And finally, since<slider we all are, what we think,>
{{info box{
http://srinig.com/2008/09/you-are-what-you-think-not-what-you-think-you-are/ ;-) }}}
</slider>Blog is the best place to get to know me anyway.}}}

|//tiddlyWikiPath//|The filepath to the TiddlyWiki the macro should work on. When missing the current TiddlyWiki is used.|
|//whereCondition//|(quoted) JavaScript boolean expression. May refer to the build-in variables {tiddler} and {context}.|
|//sortExpression//|(quoted) JavaScript expression returning "comparable" objects (using '{}','{}','{}'. May refer to the build-in variables {tiddler} and {context}.|
|//scriptText//|(quoted) JavaScript text. Typically defines JavaScript functions that are called by the various JavaScript expressions (whereClause, sortClause, action arguments,...)|
|//action//|The action that should be performed on every selected tiddler, in the given order. By default the actions AddToListAction and WriteAction are supported. When no action is specified AddToListAction is used.|
|//actionParameters//|(action specific) parameters the action may refer while processing the tiddlers (see action descriptions for details). <<tiddler [[JavaScript in actionParameters>|
|>|~~Syntax formatting: Keywords in bold, optional parts in [...]. 'or' means that exactly one of the two alternatives must exist.~~|

!Revision history
* v1.0.8 (2007-04-12)
** Adapted to latest TiddlyWiki 2.2 Beta importTiddlyWiki API (introduced with changeset 2004). TiddlyWiki 2.2 Beta builds prior to changeset 2004 are no longer supported (but TiddlyWiki 2.1 and earlier, of cause)
* v1.0.7 (2007-03-28)
** Also support "pre" formatted TiddlyWikis (introduced with TW 2.2) (when using "in" clause to work on external tiddlers)
* v1.0.6 (2006-09-16)
** Context provides "viewerTiddler", i.e. the tiddler used to view the macro. Most times this is equal to the "inTiddler", but when using the "tiddler" macro both may be different.
** Support "begin", "end" and "none" expressions in "write" action
* v1.0.5 (2006-02-05)
** Pass tiddler containing the macro with wikify, context object also holds reference to tiddler containing the macro ("inTiddler"). Thanks to SimonBaird.
** Support Firefox 1.5.0.1
** Internal
*** Make "JSLint" conform
*** "Only install once"
* v1.0.4 (2006-01-06)
** Support TiddlyWiki 2.0
* v1.0.3 (2005-12-22)
** Features:
*** Write output to a file supports multi-byte environments (Thanks to Bram Chen)
*** Provide API to access the forEachTiddler functionality directly through JavaScript (see getTiddlers and performMacro)
** Enhancements:
*** Improved error messages on InternetExplorer.
* v1.0.2 (2005-12-10)
** Features:
*** context object also holds reference to store (TiddlyWiki)
** Fixed Bugs:
*** ForEachTiddler 1.0.1 has broken support on win32 Opera 8.51 (Thanks to BrunoSabin for reporting)
* v1.0.1 (2005-12-08)
** Features:
*** Access tiddlers stored in separated TiddlyWikis through the "in" option. I.e. you are no longer limited to only work on the "current TiddlyWiki".
*** Write output to an external file using the "toFile" option of the "write" action. With this option you may write your customized tiddler exports.
*** Use the "script" section to define "helper" JavaScript functions etc. to be used in the various JavaScript expressions (whereClause, sortClause, action arguments,...).
*** Access and store context information for the current forEachTiddler invocation (through the build-in "context" object) .
*** Improved script evaluation (for where/sort clause and write scripts).
* v1.0.0 (2005-11-20)
** initial version

My answer was then, that I was both, and I supported this with examples from the (then still fresh) RoboCop, and the many view points and abstraction levels I had to take on in order to design and code it.
If asked today, my answer would be a bit more sophisticated:
I am a generalist in the sense that I do not explicitly specialize in a particular technological direction. It is because I view technology as a mean to achieve a solution, not a goal in itself. Rather, I specialize in "problem solving methods and techniques". (Hence, a title that most closely matches my skills and addictions would perhaps be "solution architect".) I tend to use technologies as "building blocks" for solutions, and I don't hesitate to adopt and mix them in curious and unconventional ways if it helps get the job done. Obviously, having broad technological insights and experience is essential to this working style.{{small{^^1)2)^^}}}
So to subsume the answer to the question whether I'm a generalist or a specialist - it is:
//I'm a technology generalist, and a solution specialist.//
Now, having said that, I'd add that I do have in-depth insights in some pretty essential technologies, MyProfile.

Back in my high school days, our physical education was made up of various areas of sports: Soccer, basketball, athletics, and: Boxing.
We've been not only training the fighting basics, but also had to alternately take on a coaching role.
Now, while I haven't been a top-notch boxer (I was solid, but there have been others with more advantageous physical properties then mine), I've been an exceptional coach. My "protégés" were amongst the most frequent winners. For some reason, I was able to detect strengths and weaknesses of both fighters, and advice a subtle but vital change in my "protégé's" attitude to maximize his advantage.
That gift of observation, and the ability to spot the most promising scope for "optimization", have accompanied my life and carrier ever since.
In retrospect, a particular point of interest is the aforementioned //subtleness//. As you might know, in any sports, it is very often a subtle change which makes the difference between winning and losing. Truth is, it is the same with software projects, or anything else. Often, it is exactly that small change in attitude that makes some projects fail, some succeed smoothly. Unfortunately, the subtleness also makes it practically impossible to develop explicit knowledge, let alone "recipes", about it.
To conclude:
* It doesn't necessarily take to be the best "doer" in order to be the best coach (but it is not true that a strong coach needs to be a weak "doer").
* Crucial advantage is often achieved by small, subtle changes.
* It takes skill, rather then mere knowledge, and continuous attentiveness, to spot and execute those subtle changes.

/%During my whole professional life, I've been in an employed position, so I can't really tell (yet) how it feels like to work as a freelancer. However, there's been this one event in my life, of which I'd like to believe it is closest to it.
%/It was many years ago - I was on my first project as a full-time employed software engineer - when I couldn't overhear Peter, our sales manager, and Michael, our head of software development, talking and ranting about the unsatisfactory results they've got from some freelancer to whom they outsourced a project several weeks before. I was curious and asked what the project was about, and whether I could see what they've got. They told me it was about a PC based client application for accessing and programming a railway control machine, and showed me the "preliminary version" they've received.
I immediately could understand their disappointment. What I saw was a rudimentary, flickering prototype with practically no business functionality inside. They said, the guy had already announced that he'll need several weeks more to complete the project, but naturally, they had their doubts.
Now, I don't know where that impulse came from, but suddenly I heard myself saying //"I could do the whole thing within a week - from scratch!"// Immediately, Peter grabbed my hand and said "Deal!". //"I'd do it in my spare time, for an appropriate bonus"//, I heard my self adding.
The same day Michael explained me the details of the project, and I started working on it at home, in my afternoons and evenings. A week later, they've got to see and acceptance-test the application. Other two evenings of small fixes and cosmetics, and the whole thing was "in the can". No bugs or wishes left open. (Chances are the software is still in use for Berlin's underground railway.)
It is probably pretty obvious that this is a story I remember with pride. After all, I managed to achieve a multiple of an outcome in a fraction of the time!
But was there a key to the success?
In retrospect, the enabling factors can be put down to this one thing:
{{indented{
Minimalism. Programming productivity //is not// a matter of LOC/day. It's a matter of elimination and minimization, of //coding to the point//. As http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/26979.html: //Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.// I have always striven for that "minimal" solution, where minimal doesn't mean less solution{{small{^^1)^^}}}, but less code for it.{{small{^^2)^^}}} It's a living, breathing incarnation of http://people.apache.org/~fhanik/kiss.html.
}}}
Clearly, it is easier to move fast with less code in the luggage.
And that's how it remained ever after.}}}
{{overlined small{
^^1)^^Indeed my application covered slightly //more// convenience features, and operated considerably smoother then its predecessor.
^^2)^^Minimizing the amount of code //without// affecting the comprehensiveness of the solution translates directly into //maximizing the effect of each Line Of Code written//, i.e. into //code efficiency//.}}}

!Notes
* Borrows largely from ThemeSwitcherPlugin by Martin Budden http://www.martinswiki.com/#ThemeSwitcherPlugin
* Theme is cookie based. But set a default by setting config.options.txtTheme in MptwConfigPlugin (for example)
* Palette is not cookie based. It actually overwrites your ColorPalette tiddler when you select a palette, so beware.
!Usage
* {} makes a dropdown selector
* {} makes a dropdown selector
* {} applies the current tiddler as a theme
* {} applies the current tiddler as a palette
* {} applies TiddlerName as a theme
* {} applies TiddlerName as a palette

|Name:|ToggleTagPlugin|
|Description:|Makes a checkbox which toggles a tag in a tiddler|
|Version:|3.1.0 ($Rev: 4907 $)|
|Date:|$Date: 2008-05-13 03:15:46 +1000 (Tue, 13 May 2008) $|
|Source:|http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#ToggleTagPlugin|
|Author:|Simon Baird <simon.baird@gmail.com>|
|License:|http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#TheBSDLicense|
!!Usage
{}//{TagName TiddlerName LabelText}//{}
* TagName - the tag to be toggled, default value "checked"
* TiddlerName - the tiddler to toggle the tag in, default value the current tiddler
* LabelText - the text (gets wikified) to put next to the check box, default value is '{TagName}' or '{TagName TiddlerName}'
(If a parameter is '.' then the default will be used)
* TouchMod flag - if non empty then touch the tiddlers mod date. Note, can set config.toggleTagAlwaysTouchModDate to always touch mod date
!!Examples
|Code|Description|Example|h
|{}|Toggles the default tag (checked) in this tiddler|<<toggleTag>>|
|{}|Toggles the TagName tag in this tiddler|<<toggleTag TagName>>|
|{}|Toggles the TagName tag in the TiddlerName tiddler|<<toggleTag TagName TiddlerName>>|
|{}|Same but with custom label|<<toggleTag TagName TiddlerName 'click me'>>|
|{}|dot means use default value|<<toggleTag . . 'click me'>>|
!!Notes
* If TiddlerName doesn't exist it will be silently created
* Set label to '-' to specify no label
* See also http://mgtd-alpha.tiddlyspot.com/#ToggleTag2
!!Known issues
* Doesn't smoothly handle the case where you toggle a tag in a tiddler that is current open for editing
* Should convert to use named params

config.shadowTiddlers.AdvancedOptions+="\n<> Use 'Your Search' //(YourSearch Options) (YourSearch Help)// ";config.shadowTiddlers["YourSearch Help"]="!Field Search\nWith the Field Search you can restrict your search to certain fields of a tiddler, e.g"+" only search the tags or only the titles. The general form is //fieldname//://textToSearch// (e."+"g. {}). In addition one-character shortcuts are also supported for the standard field"+"s {title}, {text} and {tags}:\n|!What you want|!What you type|!Example|\n|Search titles "+"only|start word with !|{} (shortcut for {})|\n|Search contents/text "+"only|start word with %|{} (shortcut for {})|\n|Search tags only"+"|start word with #|{} (shortcut for {})|\n\nUsing this feature you may"+" also search the extended fields (\"Metadata\") introduced with TiddlyWiki 2.1, e.g. use {} to find all tiddlers with the priority field set to \"1\".\n\nYou may search a word in more than one"+" field. E.g. {} (or {} in the \"long form\") finds tiddlers containin"+"g \"Plugin\" either in the title or in the tags (but does not look for \"Plugin\" in the text). \n\n!Boole"+"an Search\nThe Boolean Search is useful when searching for multiple words.\n|!What you want|!What you "+"type|!Example|\n|All words must exist|List of words|{jonny jeremy} (or {jonny and jeremy}"+")|\n|At least one word must exist|Separate words by or|{jonny or jeremy}|\n|A word must "+"not exist|Start word with -|{} (or {not jonny})|\n\nNote: When you specify two"+" words, separated with a space, YourSearch finds all tiddlers that contain both words, but not neces"+"sarily next to each other. If you want to find a sequence of word, e.g. '{John Brown}', you need"+" to put the words into quotes. I.e. you type: {}.\n\nUsing parenthesis you may change "+"the default \"left to right\" evaluation of the boolean search. E.g. {} finds"+" all tiddlers that contain neither \"jonny\" nor \"jeremy. In contrast to this {not jonny or jeremy"+"} (i.e. without parenthesis) finds all tiddlers that either don't contain \"jonny\" or that contain \"j"+"eremy\".\n\n!'Exact Word' Search\nBy default a search result all matches that 'contain' the searched tex"+"t. E.g. if you search for {Task} you will get all tiddlers containing 'Task', but also '~Complet"+"edTask', '~TaskForce' etc.\n\nIf you only want to get the tiddlers that contain 'exactly the word' you"+" need to prefix it with a '='. E.g. typing '=Task' will find the tiddlers that contain the word 'Tas"+"k', ignoring words that just contain 'Task' as a substring.\n\n!~CaseSensitiveSearch and ~RegExpSearch"+"\nThe standard search options ~CaseSensitiveSearch and ~RegExpSearch are fully supported by YourSearc"+"h. However when ~RegExpSearch is on Filtered and Boolean Search are disabled.\n\nIn addition you m"+"ay do a \"regular expression\" search even with the ~RegExpSearch set to false by directly enterin"+"g the regular expression into the search field, framed with {}. \n\nExample: {} will find all tiddlers that contain either \"maier\", \"mayer\", \"meier\" or \"meyer\".\n\n!~JavaScript E"+"xpression Filtering\nIf you are familiar with JavaScript programming and know some TiddlyWiki interna"+"ls you may also use JavaScript expression for the search. Just enter a JavaScript boolean expression"+" into the search field, framed with {{{ { ... } }}}. In the code refer to the variable tiddler and e"+"valuate to {true} when the given tiddler should be included in the result. \n\nExample: {{{ { tidd"+"ler.modified > new Date(\"Jul 4, 2005\")} }}} returns all tiddler modified after July 4th, 2005.\n\n!Com"+"bined Search\nYou are free to combine the various search options. \n\nExamples\n|!What you type|!Res"+"ult|\n|{}|all tiddlers with both {jonny} and {jeremy} in its tit"+"les, but no {football} in content.|\n|{}|All tiddlers tagged with 'Task' (the exact wor"+"d). Tags named '~CompletedTask', '~TaskForce' etc. are not considered.|\n\n!Access Keys\nYou are encour"+"aged to use the access keys (also called \"shortcut\" keys) for the most frequently used operations. F"+"or quick reference these shortcuts are also mentioned in the tooltip for the various buttons etc.\n\n|"+"!Key|!Operation|\n|{Alt-F}|The most important keystroke: It moves the cursor to the search in"+"put field so you can directly start typing your query. Pressing {Alt-F} will also display the pr"+"evious search result. This way you can quickly display multiple tiddlers using \"Press {Alt-F}. S"+"elect tiddler.\" sequences.|\n|{ESC}|Closes the Result. When the Resul"+"t is already closed and the cursor is in the search input field the field's content is cleared so "+"you start a new query.|\n|{Alt-1}, {Alt-2},... |Pressing {}|Displays the previous or next page in the Your"+"Search Result.|\n|{Return}|When you have turned off the 'as you type' search mode pressing the "+"{Return} key actually
