POLICE ARREST BATMANJust a short update:

I’ve successfully managed to repair my blog and tweak it to the needs of Virtual MultiBlog. Though you don’t see any changes (I’ll tackle the intended theme change at a later time), this site is now powered by WP on Virtual MultiBlog. Yes sir! My quest for a multi-blog solution is over. 😀 Stay tuned, I’ll report the details soon.

Free Beer Tomorrow Neon SignThe notion of “free” in FOSS – Free and Open Source Software – is commonly explained a “Free as in free speech, not as in free beer”. In practice, open source software is often provided literally for free – as I do with my plugins – and this is often referred to as “It’s free as in ‘free speech’, and as in ‘free beer'”. Noche de luna llena - Full moon nightAfter a couple of days (or hours, effectively) of experimenting with WordPress MU, the insights I gained about it are sobering at best. Here is my preliminary summary about WPMU.

Big Changes To Ahead

Cosmic HandI plan on doing some fundamental changes to my site. Most importantly, I’ll switch away from WordPress… [A moment of unbearable silence drills though the audience, a moment that seems to extend to eternity… Will he stop developing those great WordPress plugins? Do we have to abstain from his fabulous, though sometimes unconventional, even weird insights he shared with us on WordPress?]

Widget Voodoo 1.0.5 With WPMU Compatibility

Apr 15, 2009   //   by Hackadelic   //   Blog, WordPress  //  No Comments

Voodoo MagicOriginally, Widget Voodoo wasn’t implemented with WordPress MU in mind. In response to an issue report in the forums, I’ve overhauled the way settings have been stored (the main cause of the issue on WPMU).

As a result, settings handling is more robust and more secure now. And, Widget Voodoo now works on WP and WPMU equally.

Grab the new version at, and have fun with it. 🙂

Professional vs Amateur UI Design

Help is unavailable! Want help? The other day I started a System Recovery1 on my Vista. Surprisingly (or actually not so surprisingly), I’ve been prompted with the following initial message (translation from German, underlining mine):

  1. In case you don’t know, since Windows XP the operating system creates recovery points before every installation. If something goes wrong during the installation or an application, so you can’t uninstall it the usual way (or you are unsure if uninstallation really removed everything), you can roll-back relevant OS state (ex. registry) to a saved recovery point. It’s a sort of undo at system level. []

table of contentHackadelic TOC Boxes work in the sidebar as well. Out of the box. You can see a live demo on my blog by going to a post’s single view: The TOC box appears at the top of the left sidebar.1 This post here is a good example.

How I did it?

  1. At least it’s at the top at time of this writing. I may move it in the future to another place, or remove it all together. []

Widget Voodoo Release 1.0.4 Supports Variable Title Styling

Apr 11, 2009   //   by Hackadelic   //   WordPress  //  No Comments

Voodoo Doll ToothpickWidget Voodoo morphs sidebar widgets into stylishly collapsible objects. The new release goes one step further in “stylishness” and adds support to variable styling of widget titles depending on the collapsed/expanded state of the widget.

A live example is right here on my blog – look for the “Archives” widget in my left sidebar.

Go ahead, get the newest version at Then grab the CSS used to style it at the plugin homepage.

Have fun! And a happy Easter to everybody!
